Hello. I am Monique Andrews, the creator of Oceancat.com, a friendly, eclectic site for humorous literature, the ocean, mad libs, and sounds.
About Monique: I grew up in Campbell, California, went to Westmont High School, and graduated from San Jose State University. Currently, I live in Arizona with my husband, Mark, the creator of many phone modding sites, and my cats, Tigger, Gianna, Jasper, and Fluffy.
I'm a Christian who loves life and believes God is love. I currently own and manage a ministry called The Bible Is God's Word. On this page I usually post one Bible verse a day. I also provide resources for why I believe the Bible is God's Word, and enjoy dialogues with people who have comments or questions. It is a fun ministry. The Bible verses are reposted on Twitter and Myspace.
Another project near and dear to my heart is Ostracism Awareness, a website with excellent information about ostracism and rejection. It contains resources for recovery organized by topics that directly relate to ostracism or help in re-acquiring a fundamental human need that was compromised by ostracism. I also moderate a few ostracism support groups. Why did I start this website? I'm a survivor of ostracism. It happened when I was very young, and placed into special education classes between the fourth and seventh grades. In adult life, several religious people have rejected me and usually without providing a reason. I've experienced a lot of emotional recovery and have reached a point in my life where I would like to help other people who are suffering from the effects of ostracism. I felt there was a need for a new website, because a lot of wonderful information exists concerning ostracism and it looks like people could benefit from the information being well organized and accessible. While psychologists and social scientists have contributed commendable work and made ground-breaking new discoveries, there weren't a lot of websites focused specifically on recovering from ostracism. In addition to that, very few ostracism support groups exist. It is my hope that the website and support groups will help a few people.
I am a Web developer who has been in the technology industry for a while. In my free time, I like to compose and record music, play with solar energy, go swimming, hike, read books, and explore new areas I haven't seen. I play the French Horn, and sometimes get together with the Well Hammered Brass Quintet when I am in California.
About Oceancat.com: How did I come up with the name OceanCat? I like the ocean and I like cats. So, I combined the two words together into a compound word. Really, that's it. The site, itself, is a playground for my pet Web development projects, but I don't publish any of those on my site. Nobody can see those. The UI (look & feel) has mostly been the same since 1998. It has kind of grown on me over the years.
Thanks for visiting this site. Feel free to contact me.
